Recent Tony Award-winner Britton Smith, the self-identified Black Gay Mega Pastor, is bringing his funk liberation band Britton & The Sting to King Arthur’s outdoor space, for four performances of Theatre on the Hill.

Funk, gospel, soul, and testimony will echo through the Vermont landscape as Britton and the Sting spread the gospel of authenticity and inclusion, bridging the way to radical liberation. The band’s anthem, “Let’s Get Drunk and Go to Church”, speaks volumes about the mission and identity of this talented pack of musicians, who preach to the congregation out loud and without apology

Every winter during Black History Month, JAG Productions invites 30-50 Black theatre artists to a week-long residency to further the development of a new play or solo performance. Over the week, plays are rehearsed, receive intensive feedback, and culminate in a staged reading for the public. As one of the nation’s leading incubators of new works by Black playwrights, we

center plays are written and produced by and for Black, Brown, Queer, and Trans folx and the people that love them.

As JAG is growing, JAGfest is maturing. This season we are expanding JAGfest by another two weeks to accommodate the development of new musicals. Furthermore, JAGfest is expanding to NYC with an extra week of opportunities for the playwrights to connect with important stakeholders of the theatre industry. We are excited to offer an expanded JAGfest that facilitates channels of connections, opportunities, possibilities, and growing networks necessary for our artists’ success and wellbeing.
